Three Simple Steps to Improve Your Health

Being in good health is one of the most important things that influence your happiness. The healthier you are, the happier and more satisfied with life you feel. How can you take care of your health and be healthy and active even in old age? Here are three most important steps to become a healthier person.

1. Make fruits and vegetables a staple of your diet

If you would like to improve your health, eating fruits and vegetables on a daily basis is a must. They are the healthiest foods you can ever eat and it’s very difficult (if not impossible) to maintain good health if you don’t eat them. Unfortunately, many people don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables which results in many deficiencies and chronic diseases.

Which fruits and vegetables are the healthiest? When it comes to vegetables which should be a staple of your diet – leafy green vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. Bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and beans are also very healthy. Potatoes (which often undeservedly get a bad rap) are also good for you. When it comes to fruits, eat a lot of berries, strawberries, bananas, grapes, apples and of course citruses such as oranges.

2. Avoid processed foods

The majority of obese people are obese because they eat too much highly-processed foods such as white bread, white pasta, cakes, cookies, French fries, soft drinks and sugar in many forms. These foods are usually very poor in nutrients which makes them one of the worst foods you can ever eat.

Eating processed foods can lead to many dangerous chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and even cancer. What’s more, it’s extremely hard to lose weight if you keep eating high-calorie processed foods. They aren’t satiating and don’t provide essential nutrients. Eat less processed foods and more vegetables and fruits to significantly improve your health.

3. Increase your activity

Engaging in physical activity is one of the most important factors influencing your health. The more active you are, the fitter you are. And the fitter you are, the healthier and happier you are (endorphins, substances which make you feel good, are released by the brain after exercise). People who exercise often look better and have lower risk of many dangerous diseases.

You should engage in some kind of physical activity at least three times a week. You can ride a bike, start jogging or walking, join your local gym or swim at your local swimming pool. The more active you are, the healthier you feel!

These three tips are definitely the most important things that you can do to improve your health and increase your satisfaction from life. Now stop reading and follow the advice – go and buy some vegetables!
